  • World’s best and tolerant religion… I feel sorry for those women that are born that kind of life, and suffer and live under oppression.

    • These pictures have NOTHING to do with Islam. These are terrible individual fates. Worth to publish and to look at. But calling these picture the faces of Islam do only one thing: Raises hatred. And this with a generalization on 1,6 billion Muslims! Shame on the publishers.

      • You say this isn’t the face of Islam, but I have to say I disagree. This is the same as murderous riots because someone drew a COMIC about a historical figure, or deadly attacks because the leader of another religion (also not mine, for the record) mentioned that Islam has traditionally been spread by the sword. This is the only wide-spread religion in the world that condones this sort of thing.

  • islam has nothing to do with this. these poor women were abused by uneducated idiots who think their righteous muslims when in reality islam forbids any use of violence towards women these are not muslims and this is not islam

  • Yes, Seif is right. Calling this gallery ‘Faces of Islam’ is really beyond the pale, contributing to misunderstanding and racism. It needs to be renamed urgently. How dare you. I not a Muslim but you cannot call all adherents to a religion of over a billion people criminals. There are many moderates and civillised people who are Muslim. Ignorance, partriarchal violence and rape are not the preserve of only Muslims. Wake up!

  • I totally agreed with the previous comments, I am not Muslim, but come on! Why don´t we make an album called “Faces of Christianity”? and in this album we portrait all the victims of raping, beatings, sexism, homophobia, discrimination.

It is of course a horrible reality for this women in these communities, but its ridiculous to try to enclosure the entire Muslim world in this cases.

  • This is not Islam I suppose. There is no religion allowing cruelty. Islam in fact is a religion of peace, just like all other worldwide and historical religions.
Saying that “this is a face of Islam” is extremly stupid thing to do.
I agree with Seif – unfortunately primitive and uneducated people are those to blame.
But no, it is not ONLY their fault, but the system’s, where uneducation exists like this.

  • This is outrageous to call it “Faces of Islam”!!!
This is nothing to do with Islam!
And I have to tell: I am NOT islamic, and nor any other religions. I just know what I have to know.
This title is an outrageous propaganda against Islam, trying to make readers have revulsions against Islam.
But this is NOT islam! Islam forbids ANY violence! Yes, ANY, as I said! And Islam especially forbids ANY violence against women!
So these pictures shows nothing about Islam, but about sad outcome of loathsome act of few asshole bastards.
