Sometimes DIY is Not the Best Idea (24 photos)

DIY projects always seem simple: right up until a weekend builder creates a seasick-looking shelf or a “brilliant” wall makeover that ignores every law of geometry. These DIY fails cover everything from design mishaps to construction chaos, each one proving that doing it yourself is, let’s say, not exactly the best idea.

Call them botched builds, home-improvement blunders, or accidental comedy, but they all share one purpose: making us laugh. If you need a reminder that enthusiasm doesn’t always equal skill, this collection of questionable experiments and gloriously misguided efforts delivers exactly that.

  • God bless we the free people who do not require some government’s consent to build as ugly a home for ourselves as we like. Oh wait; we do need the f***ing control-freaks who run our government’s consent to put in a toilet, much more so to build anything permanent onto or into our own private homes that the government actually forever owns due to the existence of property taxes.
