Long before cell phone calls emerged as Gen Z’s collective boogeyman, talking on the go was an entire ordeal. In the ’80s and ’90s, people had to whip out devices the size of a city block, dial a number, and hope the conversation ended before their arms got tired from this pseudo workout. These early cellphones were a far cry from the sleek, compact gadgets we carry today. Carrying one was almost like a mini workout session, and using it in public was quite a spectacle. The struggle was real, but it was all part of the charm and excitement of the early days of mobile communication. Those who lived through it still recall the sheer novelty and inconvenience of these massive cellphones.
