Motor Classic & Competition, known for dealing in rare sports cars, has listed a 1966 Porsche 910 racing prototype for sale. Reportedly the first of just 28 units ever made, its price isn’t officially disclosed, but Motorsport Magazine cites a $2.2 million valuation from company sources.
This Porsche 910 holds a significant place in the brand’s racing history, having served both as a test vehicle for factory innovations and as an active competitor in around 250 races across various categories.
Notably, Niki Lauda, a three-time Formula 1 champion, drove this car in the 1969 1,000-kilometer race at the Austrian Osterreichring. At just 20 years old and yet to make his F1 debut, Lauda raced alongside Otto Stuppacher for the Bosch Racing Team, finishing ninth in his group of 21.
Built on a space frame with fiberglass bodywork, the Porsche 910 is powered by a 220 hp flat-six engine, reaching speeds of up to 270 km/h. Since 1994, it has been in the hands of a private collector who ensured a full restoration, keeping it in top condition.
