Several of these are not post mortem photos. The Victorians were not afraid of death and didn’t find post mortem photos morbid. The stands used were for the living to assist with holding a pose for several minutes to take the photo. It is a myth they posed their dead and painted eyes on eyelids so their loved one looked alive.
