Size can be surprisingly deceptive. A photo appears on screen, and suddenly a perfectly ordinary creature looks more like something borrowed from a fantasy novel than real life. That is the appeal of animals so huge they look unreal. These oversized beasts, colossal creatures, and gigantic wildlife specimens have a way of making familiar animals seem strangely out of proportion.
The funny part is that no special effects are needed. Nature occasionally decides that average measurements are merely suggestions. One glance is enough to spark suspicion, followed by a reluctant realization that the camera is not playing tricks this time. Just a collection of remarkably large animals making everything around them look awkwardly small.
