Salavat Fidai‘s microsculptures are unique masterpieces carved onto pencil leads. They feature fictional characters inspired by popular books and films, plants, cars, and more. What makes them stand out is their incredibly small size and intricate detail.
Around a decade ago, Salavat began exploring the art of miniatures. During this creative journey, he became fascinated with pencil graphite as a unique material. While most people use pencils as writing tools, he decided to use them to create works of art.
According to Salavat, graphite is a delicate material, and carving sculptures on such a small scale presents a significant challenge. Furthermore, when he started, there were only a handful of artists who carved anything from graphite. Nevertheless, he managed to take this art form to new heights and popularized pencil graphite microsculptures around the world.
